I cooked quince into sauce in preparation for making quince paste. It too was orange. Nearly the same as my socks, although the picture doesn't show it. Man, what a pretty color! By Sunday evening it was cooked way down and deeply red in color. Quince is like magic, changing from light yellow, through shades of peach, to orange and finally deep, warm, red. Never did set up into the paste I wanted, but it will make a nice spread to go with cheese. In fact, it's breakfast time...
Also finished spinning gold silk. Yes, gold. It's supposed to be some kind of special no moths were murdered in the processes silk. Expensive silk. And full of crap. I had to pick tons of who knows what out of this silk just to start spinning. Then more bits would appear as I spun and I'd stop and clean more out before it got twisted in and thus harder to remove. It spins up a bit hairy, like tussah. I'm not sure what I'll do with the yarn, but I'll sure be happy to move onto something more fun. A fleece is calling me.
